Dr. Ingrid Carney

Chief Education Expert

Dr. Ingrid brings over 40 years of distinguished experience in public education to influence.

 

She specializes in Leadership Development, Executive Leadership Coaching, School and District Improvement, The 10 Boys Initiative to close achievement gaps, and professional learning for teachers and principals.   

     

Ingrid was Founder and CEO of Carney for Kids Educational Consulting. She served as Deputy Superintendent for Boston Public Schools, where she was directly responsible for the improvement of teaching and learning in 45 schools in a diverse group of Boston communities, serving over 17,000 K-12 students.  

    

Prior to her tenure in Boston, Dr. Carney was the Senior Executive Director of CLASS – Chicago Leadership Academies for Supporting Success. CLASS,  included  five academies  which provided leadership development offerings for Chicago Public Schools’ 1,800 principals, assistant principals, and administrators at all stages of their careers - aspiring through veteran.  As Founding Executive Director of LAUNCH, the academy for aspiring principals, she recruited and prepared 128 new leaders for Chicago Public Schools.

    

In nearly thirty years with Chicago Public Schools, Dr. Carney, served as teacher, principal and administrator.  She also worked as Assistant Superintendent for Human Resource Development for Anderson Community Schools in Anderson, Indiana. 

  

Her work as a leader in urban education includes consulting with schools, school districts, boards of education and professional organizations across the country.  Dr. Carney earned a BA in Elementary Education from Wichita State University, an MA in Educational Leadership from Chicago State University, and a doctorate in Leadership and Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.  

 

Dr. Carney graduated from the prestigious BROAD Superintendents Academy (TBA 2007).  She participated in the Harvard Public Education Leadership Project.  Her leadership roles include President of the Illinois Staff Development Council and President of Learning Forward, the international professional learning association.
